CEL/ELC participates in newly created Business Platform for Multilingualism
In response to a Call released by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education and Culture, the CEL/ELC declared its interest in joining the new Business Platform. The CEL/ELC was invited to become a full member of the Platform, which is comprised of representatives of more than twenty stakeholder organisations. According to the Call, the Platform is designed as “a forum for exchange of best practices for companies, gathering relevant information from the business community, social partners, trade organisations, chambers of commerce, trade promotion organisations, schools and education authorities”.

The Platform was launched at a meeting at the Berlaymont on 22 September 2009. The meeting was opened by the Commissioner for Multilingualism, Mr Leonard Orban, and the Director-General for Education and Culture, Ms Odile Quintin. CEL/ELC President Wolfgang Mackiewicz was unanimoulsly elected chair of the Platform.

The Business Platform will have its own platform, hosted by the European Commission. A link to the platform will be established at the CEL/ELC website.
